Carole Nelson

Carol Nelson, Executive Director, has been on the staff of Houston Boychoir since 1991. In addition to annual concerts, she has prepared the boys for work with the Houston Symphony Orchestra, Houston Grand Opera, The Moores School of Music Symphony Orchestra, Choruses and Opera as well as for performances with Opera in the Heights. Some of the tours she has led the choirs each year has taken them to places such as Chicago, New York, Washington DC, New Orleans, Dallas, St. Louis as well as Mexico City and the Republic of China. In addition to her duties with Houston Boychoir, Ms Nelson serves as Director of Voice Studies at Houston's High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. Her teaching is nationally recognized by the National Arts Recognition and Talent Search and her students are consistently winners of local area competitions and are accepted into the top schools of music and conservatories across the country. Ms. Nelson also serves on the faculty for the American Festival of the Arts Vocal Program. Ms Nelson is a graduate of the University of Houston Moores School of Music and has served as a clinician across the country. Professionally Ms. Nelson is affiliated with NATS, TMEA, TCDA, and ACDA.


Holly Holt, Director, Preparatory Choir, is the Elementary Music Specialist and "Teacher of the Year" for grades 2 to 5 at the Rice School/La Escuela. Ms. Holt creates an Honors Choir every year from among her most promising students. This 90 voice choir receives recognition for its musical excellence and performs throughout the city of Houston and across the state. Ms. Holt holds a Bachelors degree in Music Education from Southwest Baptist University where she graduated cum laude, and is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda. Her Masters degree in Vocal Performance is from Baylor University.
